Corbin Cruise
Corbin Cruise is a design & metalsmith studio located in the Hudson Valley, founded in 2016 by Matty Cruise. Matty first discovered metalworking and welding in his high school years, under the mentorship of his art teacher. Upon finishing college, Matty moved to New York with the hopes of pursuing a creative career. After years working within the world of industrial and interior design, he reaffirmed his love for metal work after joining a metal fabrication shop in Brooklyn, NY. Here he honed his skills and taught welding classes in the evenings, and became well acquainted with both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Once learning the nuances of brass and bronze, Corbin Cruise began to take form. The idea of manipulating the finish of these materials was the driving force behind much of his design. The faux hammered “gouge” finish and the aqua/turquoise “marine” grants his work with versatility, thus allowing them to exist in various spaces.
Matty Cruise is from Cape Cod, MA and earned his BA in English from St. Michaels College in Vermont. His work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Veranda, and domino Magazine.
