Bernard Boutet de Monvel’s Center Piece

Original ink drawing from Mark Hampton's book ON DECORATING:

"Here is a centerpiece lesson from Bernard Boutet de Monvel, the society portrait painter, who devised this table decoration in the forties for his mill outside of Paris. On compotes from the dessert service he combined faience vegetables with fruit— a wonderful way to enliven porcelain objects."
